Avalon

I.
come my dear, a new frontier
the isle of fortune calls
sing the song of avalon
sing of bright red apple falls

I am just a child, I know not where I best belong
let the sun come ’round and take me in her arms

I confess, I made this mess
a life that’s laced in loss
I’ll abide, I’ll turn the tide
a change at any cost
I am just a child I know not where I best belong
let the sun come ’round and take me in her arms

II.
and like the last, the day begins
the harlots and the harlequins
will dance through clouds of pocket smoke
through leaves of grass and poison oak
we don the fur of fowl and fox
we play pretend and shadow box
this is the room where we first kissed
the moonlight bride, the pugilist
and emily and brother john
will lead us there, to avalon
